Sanatan Dharma a. Panchattva Principle tells that The body of man and this whole creation is made of the same basic elements. The body and mind remain healthy when we live in balance with nature—And in imbalance the disease, stress and disturbances increase.


What are Panchatva?

According to the scriptures the creation is made of five basic elements:

  1. Earth
  2. Water
  3. Fire
  4. Air
  5. Sky (Space/Ether)

These are described in the Vedas, sub-disciplinary and philosophy, especially in the sub-disciplinary and skeptical philosophy.


Role of Panchatvas in Human Body

Earth Element — Stability and structure

  • In the body: bones, muscles, skin
  • Properties: Stability, patience, endurance
  • imbalance: obesity, inertia, laziness

Water element — Flow and Nutrition

  • In the body: blood, lymph, sweat
  • Properties: softness, emotions, softness
  • Imbalance: inflammation, dehydration, emotional instability

Fire Element — Energy and Digestion

  • In the body: digestive-strength, body-tight
  • Properties: fast, courage, intelligence
  • imbalance: acidity, anger, irritation

Air elements — Speed and Communication

  • In the body: breathing, nerve-independent
  • Properties: Speed, Ideas, Creation
  • imbalance: anxiety, gas, insomnia

Sky elements — Location and Consciousness

  • In the body: spaces of the body, consciousness
  • Properties: Expansion, Peace, Spirituality
  • Imbalance: Ekaquity, Directional

  • Pure Air → Healthy Lungs
  • Clean Water → Pure Blood
  • Sun (Fire) → Strong Digestion
  • Earth Food → Static Body
  • Sky (Moon, Meditation) → Mental Peace

  • Earth: Walking on barefoot grass/soil
  • Water: Sufficient and pure water
  • Fire: Sun-arm, balanced food
  • Air: Pranayama
  • Sky: Meditation, Silence, Zap
